Set Limits Before You Play
The single most effective habit is deciding your limits before you deposit, not after you've lost. Set a budget you can afford to lose and a time limit, and treat both as fixed.
- Deposit limits — most operators let you cap daily, weekly or monthly deposits in account settings.
- Loss and wager limits — cap how much you can lose or stake in a period.
- Session reminders and time-outs — short cool-off periods (24 hours to a few weeks).
- Self-exclusion — longer or permanent account closure.
Warning Signs
- Betting more than you can afford, or chasing losses to win money back.
- Gambling to escape stress, or feeling anxious or guilty about it.
- Borrowing money, or hiding your gambling from people close to you.
A Note on Offshore Operators
The operators reviewed on this site are offshore and are not part of any US state self-exclusion program (like a state voluntary-exclusion list). That means you must use each operator's own deposit-limit, cool-off and self-exclusion tools directly. If you need to block gambling sites at the device level, tools like Gamban can help.
